Taking a trip down Maryland’s wine trails

Looking for something more exciting to do in Maryland? You can go for a wine trail tour in Maryland, take your pick from Maryland’s six official wine trails that covers five microclimates from the inland where it is more humid, to the cooler areas that are drier near to Chesapeake Bay. You don’t have to go alone, by renting a charter or coach bus, you can organise an awesome group getaway with your friends to sample the delicious wines Maryland has to offer.

There are four main regions where grapes are grown; the Piedmont Plateau, the Eastern Shore, the Southern Plain and the Western Mountain. They all have different weather conditions which makes each of the wines from different areas taste distinctly different.

Piedmont Plateau holds the oldest wineries and you can visit them using the Frederick Wine Trail and the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail. The type of grapes planted here are such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Basically, the Frederick Wine Trail consists of three cluster wineries - Linganore, Loew, and Elk Run Vineyards. The landscape at this trail is unique and varied, and as you visit all the wineries here, you will realise that the flavors are very diverse just like how each of the vineyards here are as varied. As for the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail, there are more than 20 family-owned vineyards here as well as one distillery. The York County Convention & Visitors Bureau manages the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail and you can visit this trail all year round to explore the art of winemaking and tasting.

The Eastern Shore has warm days and cool nights and a wide variety of grapes are grown there, from the Upper Shore, to Mid Shore and Lower Shore. You will find Chesapeake Wine Trail here and throughout this trail you can enjoy not only the fine wines, but beautiful scenery, seafood, beaches, wildlife and historical places of interest.

It is hot at the Southern Plain which is not very good for growing many grapes except for the Southern Italian and Mediterranean varieties which tends to thrive here. You can take the Patuxent Wine Trail here where you can sample superb wines in charming restored tobacco barns, or even on the slopes of a vineyard or on the bank of a trickling creek.

Lastly, at the Western Mountains you can find a few vineyards and two wineries. Since the climate here is predominantly cold, the grapes grown here are hardy and can withstand long winters and short growing seasons. You can find varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Norton/Cynthiana, Chambourcin, Vidal and Seyval grown here.

Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park

Sometimes, there is no better place to go with the family than to plan trips to the amusement parks – especially if you have young children in your family and they are full of energy. Going to the Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park in a Maryland rental bus is certainly a great way to spend time with your family. Don’t be fooled into thinking that amusement parks such as this one are only able to captivate the young ones – we are quite sure that even the adults or parents would be having a lot of fun, though they may not necessarily admit it. What is happier than when you see your kids beaming from ear to ear when they are enjoying all the fun things to do at the amusement park? Nothing, (well, almost nothing) can ever beat seeing your children so happy after a trip like that.

It will not take too long as you and your family climbs down from the charter bus to smell the popcorn and cotton candy sold at the Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park. There are so many different kinds of indoor rides at this amusement park that it would seem almost impossible for the kids to try them all. However, don’t despair just yet – you can always bring your kids to “tour” the indoor rides that would seem like they would enjoy most before they decide which ride they want. For some rides, they do have a minimum height requirement, so be sure to find out first before you put your kid on that particular ride. There are also rides where the whole family can ride together – such as the “Big Merry-Go-Round” and the “Wild West Train”. Generally, the outdoor rides are open on weekends only, but it also depends very much on the weather. Hence, on a good weather day, you can expect to take your kids to have some fun on their outdoor rides.

Located on South 1st Street & Boardwalk, Ocean City, Maryland, Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park welcomes visitors of all ages – and it is quite rare that anyone would leave the place feeling unhappy. If you are coming here in a group of more than ten people, you can always call them before you arrive in the Maryland charter bus to get a special group rate. Surely a trip to any amusement park would be more fun with more people, right? Don’t wait any longer – pick up the phone and book the charter bus today.

Schifferstadt, Maryland

Standing on 1110 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD is the Schifferstadt house that is open for tours and visits for everyone – even for those coming in on a rented Maryland bus. If this is your first ever fist to Frederick, MD, you should really not miss a trip to visit the beautiful house built in German style – and it comes with beer being served too! Come, have a glass of beer as you listen to the tour guide share the history and the architecture of the home that were built using the innovations that were used back in the 1700s.

Getting down from the MD rental bus, you will find the surroundings of the place rather peaceful and serene – surrounded with big trees and neatly cut grass. Depending on the day and time that you arrive at this place, it could be a busy and crowded time or just a day where you only find a couple of other visitors. However, whatever the time and day that you would choose to visit, it is still an interesting place to go visiting. And if you are one who prefers to plan things way ahead of time, why not plan a trip here to the Schifferestadt in MD for Christmas this year? During Christmas each year, the whole house is decorated beautifully with re-enactment of what it was like during the very first Christmas; with fire on the fireplace as well.

And if you enjoy drinking beer, another good time to visit the Schifferstadt, MD, would be in October when the Octoberfest takes place. Annually, on the third weekend of October, this traditional celebration of Octoberfest features a beer tent, German food, cultural activities plus colonial living history demonstrations with fun activities for children too. During the Octoberfest, the grounds of Schifferstadt is free for visitors to come and enjoy between 10 o’clock in the morning until 5 o’clock in the evening on Saturdays, while they are open from noon till 5 pm on Sundays.

If this is going to be your first trip in a MD rented bus to the Schifferestadt, be sure to bring your cameras with you so that you can capture some of the beautiful moments while you are there. Surely you don’t want to come home with just gifts from the gift shop from the house and not have the photos to accompany your memories of the trip, right?

A Wild Time At Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

To some, summer time is the best time of the year. To the wildlife, it is not a bad time either. And if you have always wanted to get close to wildlife as possible, perhaps you would like to drop by the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge this summer and charter a Maryland coach bus to take you and your friends there for a time of being in the “wild” and enjoying the beauty and wonders of Mother Nature.

Established in 1933, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge started as a waterfowl sanctuary for birds that were migrating along the Atlantic Flyway. The location of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge makes it the perfect spot for migrating birds – fresh water, open fields and the mixture of lush and deciduous are some of the main attractions for the migrating birds. We always encourage visitors in our Maryland buses to be sure to bring along their cameras to capture great moments of the many types of birds that will be spotted as well as some other smaller wildlife creatures.

Sightings of bald eagles are considered to be a norm and aplenty at this wildlife refuge and many Maryland bus chartered passengers who have been here are always in awe of the majestic of the bald eagles – so much so, there were some who complained that they were so taken by the awesomeness of the eagles that they have forgotten to take out their cameras and snap photos!

If you are not too busy taking photos, you can also cycle, hike or even canoe at this wildlife refuge! There is also a Visitor Center and this center hosts exhibits of the wildlife in the area, but unfortunately, it is now closed for renovation works, while their gift store and information desk have been relocated temporarily to their Environmental Education building while the renovation works is being carried out at the Visitor Center. Even though you may not be able to check out the Visitor Center, you can always drop by their information desk to find out more or to get some of their pamphlets and purchase some gifts from the their gift store, if you want.

With a sunny weather, Maryland bus charter passengers are in for a good time at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge as you may spot little wildlife creatures like the otters, raccoons, sika deers, various species of reptiles and amphibians and many more.

A View Of Maryland

Sometimes it is not about the destination, it is about the journey...I bet this quote's been said and written many times over and continues to ring true for most of us. Bus Company Maryland has been in the bus transportation business for many decades now and we strongly believe that the quote is one that we hold close to our hearts. The journey needs to be memorable and beautiful too.
A scenic drive is something that you can easily do when you are here in Maryland because there are many gorgeous, highly recommended routes that you can enjoy.
One good example would be the Baltimore's Historic Charles Street where some of the most captivating museums are at. While the focus would be on history and culture, there are plenty of pubs, dining hotspots and small, quaint little shops to buy souvenirs from. Maryland are big on sports and these sporting athletes love Charles Street, for some reason so when you are here, have a look around because you might be lucky enough to spot one of them.
Want to take things a step higher (no pun intended)? Then you should be game for some mountain trails and river rafting. I know this is a little surprising because Maryland is often about the endless sandy beaches and sailing activities...the focus has never been on the trails and its mountains but trust me, if you DO decide to take a drive up the mountain, the scene will truly make your jaw drop.
And since we are onto the less conventional topic of rivers and mountains, Chesapeake is an absolute MUST and after that, you can bring the rented charter bus to Ohio Canal. There are rides to be taken, bird to be watched, and of course, view to be languidly enjoyed.
In the meantime, if you are looking around for a good bus company in Maryland, we would love to hear from you and our customer service representatives can provide you with a prompt bus rental quote. We look forward to serving you in the very near future.
